ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 3- KAIRO ADVENTURES IN THE WORLD OF DARKHOUSE

I waited a while to feature this artist because i had to find the right way to put so much amazing information down in a way that would make sense to everyone LOL. I honesty LOVE his work and have a lot of his old work on constant repeat.

For those that may not know him I would like to introduce you to the dual named Artist AND Producer Kairo/Darkhouse!!!

In 2010 he began DJ'ing under the name Darkhouse. During that time he stimulated the audience with his unique Hardstyle flavors that kept the crowd on the floor. In 2013, he changed his name to Kairo and began dabbling in the art of good old Techno and House giving everyone great memories of the beginnings of rave music. Very versatile in his craft, he missed Hardstyle and its hard banging beats and currently dedicates his time to producing and mixing some amazing Hardstlye tracks.

When asked what inspired him to get into music he had a huge list of artists.

K/D- I am inspired by artists Radial Redemption, Wasted Minds, Neophyte, Evil Activities, Promo, Warface, Delete, Malice, and Thera.

Why do you love DJ'ing?
K/D- I DJ because I love hard dance music and I want to share it with people young and old every single chance I get.

What is your goal as a DJ that you hope to accomplish?
K/D- My ultimate goal would be to release with Night Breed, Theracords, and Gearbox one day.

INTERNATIONAL BABY!!!! Let the whole world hear you!!

Where would you love to play if you could?
K/D- I would love to play on stage at Defqon, Dominator, Loudness and Intents.

He ended with this statement.....

I want to be on of the few Americans to represent the harder styles in a community mostly dominated by Europeans.

With a goal like that you can do nothing but respect this guys' mindset.

Kairo/Darkhouse began his project Purge and Purify. It is 3 mixes over the span of 3 weeks. On the final week he will release his last mix, a track all his own AND samples for fellow producers. You can find the project here:

https://soundcloud.com/jtsnyc/purge-and-purify-week-2
Purge and Purify is available for free download!!!

Keep an eye out for him cause his dedication and skill as a DJ and Producer is off the chain. His passion truly shows and his no filter attitude is so refreshing. Humble and brutally honest about what he wants, Kai gives you something new every single time he drops a mix, entertains a crowd, and when he drops a track.

You can find some of his original Progressive House tracks on Beatport as Kairo. Show your love and support to him! I LOVE "Got Dat" and "Temple"!
https://www.beatport.com/artist/kairo/247271

This was an amazing and fun interview. Lot's of laughter and jokes but I am so happy that I was able to end this first batch or Artist Spotlights with such and amazingly talented DJ and Producer. I wish him the best of luck and look forward to seeing him on stage again and hopefully interviewing him again in the near future. Now it's time for me to blast some of his music and get ready for next month's Artists Spotlights. Thank you for allowing me this opportunity. Keep up the great work!!!!

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT 2- A SIT DOWN WITH UP AND COMING ARTIST DINGMVN!!

HELLO BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!!

I WOULD LIKE TO INTRODUCE YOU ALL TO THE ARTIST THAT BLEW ME AWAY DURING MY TRIP TO ALBANY.
I MENTIONED HIM DURING MY TRIP TO ALBANY FOR THE MALICE IN WONDERLAND EVENT (http://anonymousraver2013.blogspot.com/2016/05/malice-in-wonderland-amazement-in-albany.html). FOR HIS FIRST EVENT HE DID A FANTASTIC JOB AND TRULY DESERVES THIS SPOTLIGHT!

I chose to do a piece about him because it is very rare that new DJ's get recognized for their passion and talents. He opened in Albany and set the dance floor on fire. I was truly shocked at the smoothness of his transitions and how effortless he made his set appear. I have arrived early to hundreds of events over the years and to see a dance floor so alive at 9pm was mind-blowing.

There was no doubt that I wanted to feature him and I hope you all keep track of this young man and show him all the love and support necessary to help him grow. Ladies and Gentlemen...........DINGMVN!

DINGMVN: My name is literally my last name Dingman i exchanged the A for V to make it awesome HAHAHA!
I was going to ask him how he chose his name then I realized that it is a word play of his actual name soooo i felt silly for a good hour LOL.

Privately DJ'ing and perfecting his craft for 8 years, Dingmvn had his first event gig for the Albany Hard Dance crew on April 30, 2016. Dingmvn is 22 years old and hails from Ballston Spa, NY.

AR- So what got you into dj'ing and music?
D- I've always loved music doesn't matter what genre. I downloaded Virtual DJ because I felt like messing around with it. I loved that i could put whatever music I wanted together and transform it into anything I wanted. When Skrillex came into the scene, his work was what kept me enthusiastic to keep at it. Him coming into the industry gave me motivation.
AR- Can you elaborate?
D- I've always liked electronic music but nothing really kept me interested like he did.

AR- What genres do you gear towards and prefer to play?
D- The genres i gear towards mostly is Dubstep, Trap, Melbourne Bounce, and really any type of house and anything you can dance to.

AR- What do you do musically other than DJ'ing?
D- I love beatboxing if thats something musical (IT IS!) other than Djing but recently, most of my time has been devoted to djing. I'm also trying out Ableton in order to come up with whatever I can on there. Trying to learn everything possible as well as learn how to use Serum and Massive perfectly.

AR- What do you hope to portray to your audience with your music?
D- I hope to portray my free music spirit and for my audience to hear every sound as perfect as it is in my head, if that makes sense, but really I just want them to dance and have a great time.

AR- How do you come up with the idea when making a track or building a set?
D- With my set I like my tracks to start off slow give you something to chew on for a little bit then build up to have you out of breath and asking for more by the end of it.
(I must admit that he did this and I had to catch myself LOL)

AR- What do you wish to accomplish as a DJ?
D- What do I want to accomplish as a dj? I just really want to continue to have fun playing the music that I love and see other people having the same fun but i hope to someday play my own music and to have people enjoy my tracks.
(I hope to see you achieve that goal!)

AR- So, who do you consider to be your favorite local and "famous DJ's?
D- My favorite local DJ's are Y2J, NGHTWRK, Ken3tic (Sorry they are all a tie) As for famous DJ's I would have to either be Skrillex or Ghastly. I really can't choose between those genres!! HAHA
(I like a little bit of the Skrill LOL)

AR- Who do you consider to be a big influence on your art?
D- The one person who has had the biggest influence on my music has been Dillon Francis. His sounds are so bouncy and fun,yet so dirty and grimy all at the same time. I love it!

I wanted to figure out where he would love to play one day. Often times a lot of new DJ's talk about huge events, touring the world, and rocking some of the hugest stages known to the scene. DINGMVN gave me an answer that brought back some fun, dark and dirty memories. When I asked him what would be the one place he would love to play at he said this
D- One place I'd love to play would have to be Basement Saturdays at Webster hall in NYC. I had the best time ever there and I would like to relive it as a performing DJ instead of just a spectator!

We often forget that new DJ's actually exist. We don't take the time to invest in those that truly have a passion for this art and try their hardest to put out some amazing music for others. DJ'ing can be written off as a fad in this day and age where respect for the art isn't shown. Deep down I admit to being like that to at times. When I had the chance to hear DINGMVN, I realized that he gave me a huge reality check. He showed me what hard work and dedication it. That with 8 years of fine tuning (if you're all wondering he started at 14) he finally felt comfortable enough to hit the stage and share his passion with everyone.

I want to say to you DINGMVN, thank you for allowing me to interview you. Thank you for giving me a taste of what I missed. May you continue to be passionate and dedicated to the art of DJ'ing. I hope to see you on any stage real soon. Keep up the fantastic work and sta true to your roots.

Check out his page, send some love, encouragement and positive vibes to this young artist!!

VERY FIRST ARTIST SPOTLIGHT!! THE SUPREME SYNTH SLAYER: THE TALENTED JOEY ELECTRIC

HELLO YOU BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE!

I am so excited to begin this project of mine. Over the years I have been so lucky to meet and hear music from some truly amazing artists. They give all they got to their audience and have captivated my senses. I remember my first time seeing this artist perform on stage. His dark, sensuous beats trapped me in a web of fascination. I finally got the courage to reach out and ask him to be my very first Artist Spotlight Interview. So......Without any further blah blah blah, I would like to introduce you all to the Tall, Dark, and Handsome SYNTH SLAYER JOEY ELECTRIC!!!!!

Joey Electric is a Hard Style, Goth, and Industrial genre DJ. currently with the company Morlock Musik. In the winter of 2006 he began DJ'ing and added a little dark beauty to all those that had the honor to hear him.

I chatted with him via Facebook and in the midst of my excitement I didn't realize how many questions I threw his way.

Within the world of my excitement, I had to begin by asking the age old interview question...

Anon Raver- How did you come up with your name and persona?

Joey Electric- My name stems from the electricity that runs through everything to produce and play electronic music. From the mixer to the turntables, CDJ's, drum machines, synthesizers and computers that can sometimes make sterile sounds. My persona is me. It's the kid in middle school that painted his nails black and wore all black even in the summer. It's all consuming of me just being the kid that liked listening to Front 242 records and singing along to The Cure and Depeche Mode records.

So I was hoping that I could be nosey and I try to get some personal info from him and the responses left me giggling for about 30 minutes and I had to walk away from my computer for a bit.

AR- Where are you from and how old are you?

JE- I am from Hades. I am as old as time but still very young in spirit.

(I think Hades is a pretty cool place if Joey is there rocking it out with the dark beats.)

AR- What inspires you musically and what else do you do when you are not DJ'ing?

JE- I was inspired by the Dark musical landscapes of some of my favorite Artists. This includes Blaqk Audio, The Shiny Toy Guns, and VNV Nation. Some of my other musical endeavors included doing vocals for a Death Metal/Hardcore band called In Dire Need. Also, I learned a bit about the Bass to play in a band called FUF. It was a Death/Grind band based out of my hometown of New Bedford, Massachusetts.

AR- Do you produce of your own tracks? If so, how does that help you when making tracks. Have you ever heard a track so good, or so bad, that made you want to remix or modify it and add your own personal touch?

JE- Currently, I am in the process of learning production. I put a lot of time in at the Under Dark Studio to work toward releasing more original content. I am still in the learning process of production so if I could do a remix it would be of an older track that I really enjoying dansing to.....

I wanted to dig a bit deeper and know what he wished to portray to his audience when he played. What he wanted them to feel every time they heard a set or mix from Joey Electric.

JE- I hope to immerse the crowd in a dark dense musical landscape with unholy mixes and pulsing oscillators.

AR- How do you come up with your ideas when making a track or building a set?

JE- When it comes to building a set I think mostly in terms of sound and emotion. Not necessarily a specific song or Artist. Mostly the way that it will affect the crowd. It could be two lovers kissing on the danse floor because a song brings them back to a nostalgic time. Or a group of kids stomping and moshing because they had a tough week and need to get their energy out on the Death Danse Floor. When it comes to building a track my inspiration comes from nature mostly the sonic energy that is all around us. Also, the macabre and a side of humans that doesn't contain light.

So, with such imagery and energy, I had to ask him what he hoped to accomplish as a DJ?

JE- As a DJ I hope to accomplish many things mainly to play out more around the United Sates and play more over in Europe. As a young producer I hope to make more music that will make people contemplate their surroundings and Danse.

I got curious and I wanted to know who it favorite local DJ was in his town and who his favorite "famous" DJ was. I also wanted to know who he considered to  be a big influence on his art.

JE- I have a lot of friends that are local DJ's. DJ's that have inspired me and made me want to pick up a record include DJ Venom, Brad Rhodes, Mark Lavelle, Ian Ford and Chris Ewin. In my eyes all of them are famous. They truly inspire and keep this scene moving into the future. A big influence on my art are artists that use heavy layered synth and the occult.

AR- What is one place you would LOVE to perform?

JE- One place that I would love to perform at would be playing the BassCon Stage at EDC in Las Vegas, anything by Q-Dance in the Netherlands, a Gothic Festival in Canada or Germany. Also, to continue playing locally with all of my friends whom are talented DJ's/Producers and Artist.

(I hope to see it happen one day too!)

After taking a little break to get all this information processed I thought about all the artist I have seen and I wondered what they did to hype themselves up for a set. Joey's answer was very humbling.

JE- I get excited about upcoming sets by recollecting on how I got to be at that specific place and that specific time. I breathe in and feel all of the gratitude that is around me.

I had t ask the all time favorite question of mine.

AR- Do you have any advice for those that wish to get into DJ'ing or just starting out?
JE- Yes for sure. follow your dreams and love what you are doing.

We ended this interview with this final statement from Joey Electric:

I hope that you enjoy my mixes Death.Danse.Repeat. Graver Podcasts and look out for my newest track "Crucifix Kiss" and a Goth/Industrial Collaboration with my good friend DJ Venom called Cholo Legosi.

Slay Them With Synth!

I want to say to you Joey, thank YOU for being so fun and easy to talk to for this interview. Thank you for your love, passion, and dedication to music and the scene. I wish you all the very best in all you do and I hope to see you on stage soon.

GETTING LOUD, LIBERATED AND VAPING!!

On May 21st I took the long journey to a little Long Island vape shop called Cherry Valley Vape. There I got the grand opportunity to see how much people truly care about the culture of rave and all the hard work, dedication, and love that promoters and DJs put into keeping it alive.

LOUD AND LIBERATED: The Reunion was a joint effort of some amazing old school artists and a unique and friendly vape shop. It began as a live broadcast in 2009 and ended in 2011. The artist brought it back to us all in a major and fantastic way.

The event had several respected DJs such as Jen Mas, Hardbass Addicts, "The princess of Hardstyle" Lauren Valentine, How Hard and so many others, there was BBQ, drinks, a raffle in which you could win merch from Cherry Valley Vape and TONS of love.

The event was even live streamed for those that were unable to attend.

I must truly say that this small event was incredible. So many dedicated people came out and not only supported the scene but also supported this shop. The shop has so many great patrons that came out and got their first taste of rave culture and the people that attend raves. The sound was amazing and the artists even sat down for interviews and commentary between sets.

It was a unique experience that I hope continues at Cherry Valley Vape. The knowledge of the staff is beyond amazing and they are easy to talk to and work with.

The Loud And Liberated crew did such an amazing job in turning a unique shop into an outstanding rave. Things like this make me so very proud to be a raver. Thank you for giving us your love, dedication, passion and spirit.

Just to keep you all in the loop here is the amazing line-up and information about the shop. I STRONGLY suggest that if you guys are ever in West Hempstead, LI to stop by, say plur and check out CHERRY VALLEY VAPE. You will not be disappointed!!!

MALICE IN WONDERLAND= AMAZEMENT IN ALBANY

So on April 30th I made the last minute decision to travel all the way to Albany, NY and I am very happy I did.

The Albany Hard Dance crew worked so hard and threw an amazing event at a wonderful place called The Fuze Box. The event "Malice In Wonderland" showed throughout the venue. The decor was expertly done and I was pleased at the little candy table that displayed free pieces with "AHD" and the words "We're all mad here". People dressed for the event and I was delighted that everyone truly got into the spirit of rave and the theme.

First I will begin by saying that the venue and it's staff were so accommodating and respectful. Being a NYC girl, I was a bit shocked. They ran the bar with positivity and patience. very attentive to the need of guests and made sure that everyone left with a smile on their faces. No matter how busy or tired they were they never allowed it to show. The overall crowd was so kind and friendly (again another shock).

I watched as the hosts (Joe and Melody Kelly) ran all over making sure everything and everyone was ok and having a good time. They showed how much the love the scene and I can say that they did a FANTASTIC job. They are truly about the love and it shows.

Now I must say I was a bit biased LOL. I went to see DJ Venom and DJ Zydrate because I haven't rocked out to them in a very long time. It was great seeing you guys on stage! As usual they killed it and left me worn out and sore. BUT, I got to see some amazing new talent that I cant wait to introduce you to hopefully in a later blog post.

DJ Dice was a great surprise and he left me needing a short break LOL.

Usually when I attend events the opening artist is considered a place holder. No one really pays attention to them or how much passion they put into their work. I reached the venue early and the dance floor was alive! Dingmvn was giving all he had and although I was trying to conserve my energy I couldn't help but dance a bit. GREAT JOB!!! I found out it was his first event ever and I hope that it isn't his last.

Melody and Joe did something that I haven't seen done in a very, VERY long time. They produced a lineup of incredible talent and kept that venue alive ALL NIGHT LONG. There wasn't a moment where I was thinking about other things or that I wanted to leave because of a set. The artists were so humble and gave out all the love the were given.

I strongly suggest that you keep and eye out for Albany Hard Dance, it's events and the amazing talent. I am still in a state of excitement and I wish I could go back. You all did an amazing job. Thank you for giving your heart, soul, passion and talents.

THANK YOU ALBANY HARD DANCE, JOE, KELLY, THE FUZE BOX AND AMAZING DJS FOR GIVING ME A DOSE OF WHAT I LOVE AND ADMIRE ABOUT RAVE CULTURE. KEEP UP THE FANTASTIC WORK AND YOU'LL (I'LL) SEE YOU ALL SOON!

MUCH PROPS TO THE DRUM AND BASS COMMUNITY!!!

April 23 I decided to venture out to a place that took me out of my usual setting and comfort levels. I DO listen to a lot of DNB but I never got the chance to go to an event where that was all that was featured.

NYC artists and New England artists gave us the amazing event "Together". 3 rooms with some amazingly talented artists showed us how committed, dedicated, and passionate they are to the Junglist community. Slake nightclub came to life with some of the most unique tribal beats. The place was packed and I honestly had a hard time getting around in order to check it all out.

Hosted by: JOSIAH SCRIBES (Cycle), ELIJAH DIVINE(New England Junglists), AERO(NYC Jump Up), and MURDOK (Digital Terror Recordings) did a supreme job at bringing so many known and unknown artists to NYC.

NYC's Dali (resident of Webster Hall NYC) killed it with pals Alex English and Hiyawatha in and amazing B2B2B set. Tuko gave us an experience that showed how much love he has for his craft. Siouxside gave us the energy when needed.

What I loved the most about this event was the energy in the air. Too many times I go to events and everyone is hanging on the wall or drunk. The energy was mindblowing and so positive. The people were dancing and the DJ's actually interacted with the crowds before and after their sets.

The downside was that with 3 rooms you are unable to hear every artist in full because you want to show love to everyone LOL.

I know I only mentioned a few artists above but I had the great opportunity to hear EVERY SINGLE ONE if even for 5-10 mins at a time. Check them all all (names below) an show them some love.

I am not a die hard DNB fan but MAN! you all gave me some amazing music, beautiful vibes and showed me how music can truly bring everyone TOGETHER. I look forward to the next one. Keep up the great work. Dirty beats and love!

MUCH LOVE AND RESPECT TO ALL THE ARTISTS AND CREWS INVOLVED!! YOU GUYS DID A FANTASTIC JOB AND YOU MAY JUST TURN ME INTO A DNB JUNKIE!!!

Review of "Love Complexities"

So like I stated in my last blog I have been venturing out and I had the opportunity to see a stage play that completely blew my mind. It was like the passion I feel at a rave throughout my spirit and I am so happy that I can share it with you all.

"Love Complexities" is a combination of two separate performance pieces. Check out my review. Check out the Facebook page (at the end of blog) and keep an eye out for these amazing writers, producers and actors.......

On Saturday, April 2, 2016 I had the wonderful opportunity to see two stage plays, “Jackie & Clarisse” and “Marvin’s Fetish”. The theme “Love Complexities” perfectly describes everything about these two separate plays.

As I sat down, I must admit that even with my notebook and pencil handy, I was NOT ready for the emotional rollercoaster that I was on. From the moment the lights lowered I was entrapped into a ride that I have never experienced before and never forget

First was “Marvin’s Fetish”, written by S.R. Anzalone and directed by Alan Baxter, which led me on a journey of sorrow, anger and sympathy. Marvin, a terminally ill gay man with a fetish for married men with TWO young male children, is an aspiring screen writer that offers money for sex. Marvin is estranged from his brother that suspects him of killing their father for inheritance money. He encounters an old high school classmate, John, at a restaurant and makes him an offer.  Marvin reveals his great success of his script and the contact information of Glen Close. Little does Marvin know John a 30+ year old waiter that suffers from a heart condition was disguising himself as a straight, married man with two children. After much discussion and therapy like analyzation (John expressed his “relationship” issues) Marvin excuses himself to take a phone call. John ends up taking a call and revealing his plan. Unbeknownst to John, Marvin heard everything and an argument ensued. Marvin was upset that he lost the contract and discovered that John crossed him and submitted his own play that was chosen instead. The combination of alcohol and drugs consumed at Marvin’s home causes John to have a heart attack, Marvin leaves him to die on the floor. Did he let his father die as well? What did Marvin do with John’s body? What will happen now that the competition is dead? So many questions and so much anger and hatred. This play leaves you on the edge of you seat and you walk away with so many more questions than answers.
“Marvin”, played by De Angelo Justice, became Marvin. His body language and the passion in his eyes made you want to get up and scream at him. You believed that he was indeed his character. “John”, played by Mark Parker on April 2, 2016 was so unbelievably AMAZING. When he reveal his character as a gay man my heart skipped a beat. He claimed both roles beautifully.

The second stage play was “Jackie & Clarisse (and the Fall to Grace)”, written and directed by Deborah Vines. My heart cried and broke into millions of pieces. This play was beautifully executed by Gustavo “Gus” Ferrari, “Jackie” and actress Rachel Marcus, “Clarisse”.
Jackie, an ex con on parole trying to get his life on the straight and narrow, meets Clarisse over the phone when she calls. They never meet in person, working in Miami and L.A., but form a strong friendship and you get a sense of pure love. Clarisse is an abused woman and afraid to leave her marriage while Jackie struggles to stay on the straight and narrow. The both try to convince each other to remove themselves from their toxic situations. Eventually Jackie caves in to the temptation of easy money and gets into a bad situation. Through all the arguing and pleading, they remain stuck in their ways. Jackie is killed and that is what convinces Clarisse to leave with her children.
This play pulls at you heart. You hope that Clarisse leaves L.A and goes to Miami. You eagerly wait for Jackie to reveal that he is in love with her. Your heart truly breaks. My heart raced and I held back my tears throughout the entire performance.
The performers had such beautiful energy and passion. Their souls ran free on stage and trapped you in the midst of their lives. You cheered them on, felt their pain, and celebrated in their joy of each other. You wanted it to end differently and left wishing that they could have had the happy ended.
I will never forget these performances. I will never forget these characters and the people that gave them life. They poured their souls into them. It wasn’t just “acting”. It was becoming. And, MAN did they become. I had to resist the urge to go back the next day.  Thank you for giving me inspiration. Thank you for showing me passion and telling me a story that I will never forget. I look forward to seeing this show again (I had to force myself to stay home the next day). These actors and actress have passion for their art and their ability to become the characters is something amazing and mind blowing. If you see this you will leave a changed person.

A most special mention to producer Julia Genoveva. Her passion showed and her talent, grace and spirit ran through every aspect of these great works of art. She set her mind to this and gave her all. Not only did she make it alive she exceeded expectations.

Deborah Vines ripped my heart out, stuffed it with love and gave it back to me. Her skill and mind flowed through me and allowed me to fell every emotion. The love, pain, devotion and sadness of the characters. I wanted to get up and save them.

S.R. Anzalone….. (deep breath) he wrote something so real. I stayed on the edge of my seat. My thoughts ran wild. I couldn’t write fast enough to keep up with all I was feeling.

Alan Baxter directed beautifully. I was amazed at how much difficult work was made to look as if it was easy. Flawless was the thought in my head.

You can check out their FB page to stay up to date on upcoming performances here https://www.facebook.com/Love-Complexities-Jackie-Clarisse-and-Marvins-Fetish-944197499026701/?fref=ts

Let your imagination soar and your heart flow free. Thank you for your support and love!!!

Coming back with a bang!

Hey all!!!

It has been a very long time since I have shared what has been going on in the scene. I have been to some amazing NYC events and festivals over the last 2 years and have seen the best of the best and the worst of the worst. I have watched people walk away from their dreams as well as bring new ones to light. A lot of pride and disappointment.

With that said, I am making it my goal to highlight some amazing up and coming talent. Feature them for their hard work, dedication and skills. I hope that you all come forward and join me in this journey of music, love and rave. Drop a message in my Facebook inbox. Tell me where you're from, some links to your track or videos and why you do what you do.

I look forward to chatting with you all and hopefully you'll be my Artist of The Week!!!!
